There are so many beautiful and wonderful memories concerning our family and recollections of EINAR . Over the years we have had so many lovely times together. It all began in 1955 when my parents (Vera and Gene) sponsored EINAR to come and live with us in Illinois. In 1955 we all we all celebrated Christmas Eve.
Then in August of 1956 we all moved to California and it was the best thing that we ever did ️

Sponsoring someone from another country to immigrate to the U.S. generally requires you to be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and meet specific financial requirements; my parents passed that with flying colors.

    To Hilde:
I dont think ? I ever shared this with your family: EINAR also knew my friend Judi Buchanan in high school because she would go with us to the Canyon and she and I would ride with your Dad in his Studebaker convertible. She also sat right behind me in Geometry. We would get in trouble sometimes for talking to each other so we passed notes back and forth, and of course my teacher noticed that as well. ?

In the 10th Grade at Lynwood High School, CA in 1960 our final exam in Geometry was scheduled to happen very soon. My teacher was Mr. Popp and so far I was flunking his class ?. So . . . at home I was getting ready to study for that exam and asked your Dad what I should do.

He said flunking Oh no we cannot have that, so for the next week he helped me to study ?. He really worked a lot with me. And you know I passed that test with a B- EINAR is such a wonderful teacher! I was sooooo overjoyed ?, So was my teacher and he asked me how in the world was I able to pass that test?

I told my teacher about your Dad and he said I would like to meet him. So your Dad came to our school and met the entire class. I was so happy and so were they.

So, In appreciation for everything your Dad did for me, there was certain food that he loved and so I cooked for him for quite awhile and he loved that️ One is the things that he loved was Apple Pie ?, I learned how to make that from Bestemor and my Mom; so I made that quite a few times. It was so much fun and he was absolutely crazy about it️

Also some meals as well that he loved:
    1. Pork chops in mushroom soup,
    2. Potato bites (he called them swimming potatoes ?)
    3. Doughnut Puffs made from Pillsbury Dough biscuits with cinnamon and sugar. I learned how to make those dishes at Hosler Jr. High School in Lynwood., CA.

It was such a lovely time back then. Also at that time I fixed lunches the night before for my Dad, EINAR, and my Uncle Roy. We put them in the freezer so that they would stay fresh for the following day at work for everyone.
On down the road my Mom and I traveled to Norway in June of 1962 for 2 months. We had a lovely time there and spent a lot of time with your parents. They were so wonderful to us and showed us all the sights there.

This is a movie regarding our trip to Norway in June of 1962.

Thank you for taking me in and making me feel part of the Strand family back in Belmont, CA. You taught me how to ski at Sugar Bow, play softball in middle school and play soccer in high school.
Most recent, we met in LA in 2018 and hiked up to the LA observatory, had a nice Thai food meal and had fun and lots of laughs about locating and determining which rental car was ours. I still have a picture of the license plate. LOL
    We miss and love you!

Love you dearly?

Hvil i fred,

Måtte Herren bevare deg og velsigne oss her i denne tiden.

Love you Dad ?
